NEPTUNE CITY, NJ - TFH/Nylabone, the world's largest manufacturer of premium dog products and publisher of high-quality pet books, today announced that they will be sponsoring a workshop at The Pet Savers Foundation CHAMP (Conference on Homeless Animal Management and Policy) conference, which will be taking place July 31 through August 3 at the Millennium Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.
Robin Robertson Starr, CEO of the Richmond SPCA, will conduct the workshop in which she will share the strategies and programs that have been key to the Richmond SPCA's success in transitioning itself to a no-kill shelter and creating a no-kill plan for their community. As a result of this transition, the calendar year 2002 saw a decline in deaths of homeless animals in Richmond of 41.5% from the previous year (2001). **
Ms. Starr has been the Executive Director and CEO of the Richmond SPCA since June 1997 and a member of its Board of Directors since 1994. Prior to her becoming the Executive Director, she was a practicing attorney. Ms. Starr is a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies and of the Executive Committee of that Board, a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators as well as a member of the Virginia State Bar.
When asked about the upcoming CHAMP conference, Ms. Starr stated, "I am very grateful for Nylabone's generous support since Nylabone and the Richmond SPCA share a deep commitment to strengthening the bond between people and their pets that leads to a happier and healthier life for both of them."
The CHAMP conference provides a unique opportunity for people involved in all aspects of animal welfare to participate in first-class educational workshops and to discuss varying philosophies of the animal welfare movement both here and abroad.
