NEPTUNE CITY, NJ - Since the 1952 debut of Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine, TFH Publications/Nylabone has been educating and equipping pet owners for responsible pet care and has provided support to organizations that share in supporting our common goal: To help every pet owner provide their pets the happiest and healthiest lives reasonably possible. By promoting the philosophy that all pets should be kept responsibly, and furthermore that the pet trade's impact on the Earth and its wildlife should be a positive one, TFH/Nylabone maintains a firm commitment to the proper care of both the animals we take into our homes and the wildlife with which we share our planet's resources. It is in this capacity that we proudly sponsor California's Whale Rescue Team, as well as a host of other organizations that share WRT's goals, commitments, and philosophies.
The history of TFH Magazine coincides with that of the aquarium hobby itself, and for half a century TFH has been helping beginners and experts alike keep their aquatic pets properly and responsibly. Sustainable harvest and captive production are perennial topics in the magazine, and it discourages the trade in and maintenance of species which the general hobbyist has little hope of keeping alive. The magazine openly promotes responsible management of aquatic resources worldwide. With articles from aquarists, explorers, ichthyologists, aquarium societies, and aquatic wildlife conservation groups, TFH strives with every issue to make a positive impact on not only the fish we keep in our homes, but also those in the wild, the future of which can only be assured by the active commitment of our species.
Although the magazine concentrates on aquarium fish, TFH Publications, the world's foremost pet book publisher, has been informing pet owners about the needs of all species of animal companions for 50 years with a firm commitment to educating the public about responsible pet ownership. Guppy to Great Dane, hamster to hedgehog, whatever your pet, TFH Publications has expert knowledge and guidance to help you and your pet enjoy a long and happy life together. Through quality publications and partnerships with such animal-friendly organizations as the Marine Aquarium Council, the North Shore Animal League, the Pet Savers Foundation's Conference on Homeless Animal Management and Policy (CHAMP), and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, TFH Publication's mission has always been, and continues to be, to ensure the quality of life for all animals, wherever they may be found.
Nylabone has been an industry leader for over 40 years, with a wide variety of pet products designed to equip pet keepers and their animal companions for a happy, healthy, and safe life together, and has additionally partnered with numerous local and national organizations dedicated to wild- and domestic-animal care, conservation, and rescue. One such effort has included both substantial financial donations and donations of Nylabone Fold-Away Pet Carriers to California's Whale Rescue Team, where they are used to transport rescued sea lions and seals to their care facility and, ultimately, back to the wild. TFH/Nylabone is proud to sponsor the first annual Whale Rescue Team's "Ocean Celebration" this year, and salutes the efforts of this and the countless other organizations dedicating their time and resources to saving wildlife and promoting responsible animal care. Through other efforts, such as the Nylabone Saves Lives Campaign (dedicated to saving the lives of dogs that may be given up to animal shelters due to destructive chewing habits), Pennsylvania's Canine Aided Emergency Search and Rescue, Virginia's Area Rehabbers Club, New Jersey's Have a Heart Guinea Pig Rescue, and Ohio's One More Chance Rescue and Adoption, to name only a few, Nylabone serves a continued commitment to make sure the impact of our society upon the animals of the Earth is as positive as possible.
